AFRICA BUILD at IST-Africa Workshop

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology as a partner of IST- Africa 2014 had invited AFRICA BUILD project to H2020 workshop to present a success story on FP7 projects on the 10th of February 2014. The workshop took place in Smart Club in Smart Village, Giza, Egypt.

The IST- Africa is supported by the European Commission (EC) and African Union Commission (AUC), and Co-Funded under FP7, IST-Africa is a strategic collaboration between IIMC (Ireland) and Ministries and National Councils responsible for Information Society, ICT and/or STI (Science, Technology & Innovation) adoption, policy and research in 18 African Countries.
The workshop aimed at highlighting the following:

  • What is Horizon 2020?
  • Overview of Horizon 2020 Priority Areas – Excellence Science, Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies, Societal Challenges
  • Societal Challenges – Health, Food Security and Agriculture, Environment
  • ICT Components in Horizon 2020
  • Brainstorming in relation to relevant areas of Horizon 2020

During this workshop, AFRICA BUILD project was presented, focusing on lessons learned and sharing experience as an African partner, in addition to a demo of AFRICA BUILD Portal.
