Dr. Kwasi Torpey (MD PhD MPH FGCP) is a physician with extensive experience in HIV prevention, care and treatment programming. He played a key role in the introduction of antiretroviral therapy and support of establishment of HIV care and treatment sites in several African countries including Ghana, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Nigeria and Mozambique. Dr Torpey has been instrumental in designing and implementing biomedical, operational and health systems research. Dr Torpey has published several scientific articles in international peer reviewed journals on HIV prevention, care and treatment in resource limited settings.
He received his medical and postgraduate training in the University of Ghana Medical School, Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium and Netherlands School of Public Health in Utrecht, Holland.
He is currently the Deputy Chief of Party-Technical for Family Health International in Nigeria.
